YouTube and Things | A quick catch up

It’s been a busy week or two. Lucy and I have moved back to university ready for semester two, bagged a job for myself and an interview for her, as well as filming our first YouTube video.

We’re planning on doing lots on this channel, including LGBT advice, university life vlogs, maybe even a few singing videos, and everything in between!

Review - Revolution Brow Palette

As you can see below, I have severely lacking eyebrows. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not bless me with an ability to be "on fleek", though I still value their ability to frame my face. The revolution brow kit did just this for me, and for a considerably more budget price than those from benefit and Mac.

The range of colours allowed for use with both my blonde, and Lucy's ginger, hair and I'm sure it will be just as good with brunettes. The gel feels a lot lighter than those I've used in Benefit and Mua, providing the same brushes and tweezers and arguably better quality.

This palette is irreplaceable and a fantastic find by Lucy's sister who bought her it for Christmas. (Sally also has a beauty blog at littlebudget.co.uk - check it out!)

The only downside to this product is that the pencil their provide does not have a cover, so by the time we opened it the pencil was blunt and too thin to sharpen with a normal sharpener. The pencil, however, really isn't a crucial part of this product.

Bar work

A day in the life of a theatre bar worker

It’s 9am and I’m about to venture out of my warm bed to get ready for work. It’s pantomime season and I’ve agreed to work a full day on the bar - it’s also Sunday so I get paid double time (no complaints!).

The half hour bus journey into town is seamless, I usually treat myself to a Gregg’s omelette baguette to start off my early mornings. The biggest problem with working on a Sunday is that buses don’t seem to run at useful times, so I ended up in town half an hour early.

Our first job is to restock our bars, setting up with plastic glasses, unlocking the liquor and unloading the cash float into the tills. I’d be lying if I said my job was difficult. Even if I only work for 2 hours, I still get 3.5 hours pay minimum, as well as at least an hour to enjoy free hot chocolates and biscuits.

Bar work is something I think I’ll always enjoy, and something I’d encourage other people to get into. It forced me out of my shell, being able to talk to strangers most days has made me a lot more confident and less awkward. It’s also a great part time job that you can have alongside any education or full time job.
