Christmas is nigh!

Thursday, December 17, 2015

As I sit tapping away on my phone in the middle of my local shopping centre, I'm very much reminded of my severe hatred for Christmas shopping. (Disclaimer) The actual act of giving gifts I love! Listening to spoilt children being dragged around by their pretentious parents is something I won't miss for the rest of the year. I've sat and watched one child, no older than 8, telling her granddad that she doesn't "want to walk up those f**king stairs again" followed by a dog whistle pitched scream. To make things worse, I have the most splitting headache, so all essence of "Christmas cheer" has quickly disintegrated.

Despite my Scrooge-like tendencies, I'm very much looking forward to Christmas this year as it's the first Christmas that Lucy and I will spend together. After living together for 3 months, suddenly parting ways between Leeds and Middlesbrough has been quite heart wrenching. I feel like I've lost half of my limbs, so Christmas is well anticipated so I can see her again.

My pitiful student bank account has meant that presents for my family aren't at all spectacular. A bountiful of alcohol and cuddles should surely work that one out, however.

Despite all this, the countdown to Christmas continues! And I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
