Fitbit Flex - Review

Friday, January 01, 2016

I’ve owned my Flex for just over a year now, but only really wore it for 6 months religiously. I went on a big health kick in the November of 2014 and lost about a stone, and in all honesty, I’d thank my Fitbit for this.

I’m a person who always struggles with motivation. Unless I have physical motivation in front of me, chances are I’d vote for the day in bed as opposed to a morning at the gym. The Fitbit stays on your wrist 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (minus an hour or two for charging). The Flex only measures steps, however with the app you can input your daily meals and snacks, as well as track the quality of your sleep.

Side note – when wearing this product, I was following the Fit Girls Guide 28 Day Jumpstart meal and exercise plan. Hold tight for a review of that!

The pros of this product, for me, are mostly psychological. The wearing of the wristband made me want to go out for a 20 minute walk on my own just to get my step count up; the step count competitions on the app made me jog in front of the TV whilst watching a film; and the result of this was me losing a stone of weight in a month!

It’s comfortable, water proof and highly durable. The wrist band also comes in a variety of colours which I’m going to invest in this month as rewards for my New Year health boost.

This product was well worth the £80 I spent on it at its time of release. I think it’s now available from many retailers for £40-£60. However, there are many Fitbit products which also track your heart rate, stairs climbed and other cool extras. I also own a Polar FT4 which tracks my heart rate during a workout, so the basic Fitbit Flex was perfect and slim for everyday wear.

I’ll also be posting a review of the Polar FT4 early next week, so stay in tune!

I hope this was helpful, and maybe we’ll be competing on the app in the future!
